Fostering Facts
Quick Overview
Short-Term Commitment: From a few weeks to a few months—tell us what works for you.
Rescue Covers Vet Care & Supplies: Medical care plus carrier, litter box, cat food, and litter provided.
You Provide Love & Routine: Daily care, play, and updates.
Why Foster?
Every foster home creates shelter space, prevents unnecessary euthanasia, and helps shy cats blossom. Black cats are the least adopted and most at risk—your home can be their miracle.
What We Provide
Veterinary care (exam, spay/neuter, vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment as needed)
Microchip (adopter = primary contact; Cat Noir Rescue = secondary for lifelong safety)
Medications and medical supplies prescribed by our vet
Adoption marketing (photos, bio, listings, meet-and-greet coordination)
Ongoing behavior support and training resources
Cat supplies provided: carrier, litter box, cat food, and litter
💡 It is always greatly appreciated if fosters can help with food or litter, but this is not required. Every bit of help saves the rescue money and allows us to take in more cats.
What Fosters Provide

Socialization, gentle play, and observation (tell us what you notice!)
Transport to pre-scheduled vet appointments and meet-and-greets (we can help arrange if needed)
Regular updates, photos, and videos for the adoption listing
Prompt communication if concerns arise (behavior, health, escapes)

A quiet room to decompress for the first 7–10 days
All pet residents are up-to-date on vaccines and flea control
Ability to separate new cat from resident pets initially
Landlord approval (if renting)
Reliable transport or willingness to coordinate rides
Time for daily TLC (even 20–30 minutes helps)
Types of Foster Placements
Standard Foster: Friendly cats/kittens awaiting adoption
Socialization Foster: Shy cats who need patience and routine
Medical Foster: Post-surgery or minor medical recovery (we guide you)
Bottle Baby/Neonatal: By request; training provided

Vet Care & Scheduling
Cat Noir Rescue schedules spay/neuter, vaccines, and any needed follow-ups. Fosters agree to coordinate transport or work with us to arrange a ride so the cat makes all appointments on time.
Safety & Introductions
Keep new fosters indoors only.
7–10 days in a separate room is required for health/behavior decompression.
Introduce to resident pets slowly (scent swapping → barrier meets → brief supervised visits). We’ll provide step-by-step instructions.
Adoption & Microchip Notes
We manage adoption applications, interviews, and agreements.
Microchip is registered with the adopter as the primary contact; Cat Noir Rescue remains secondary to keep the cat safe for life.
Fosters may be first in line to adopt if it’s the right fit (“foster-to-adopt”), pending standard approval.
