Welcome to Cat Noir Rescue: Los Angeles’ Black cat rescue, where we shine a light on the most overlooked felines. Based in Los Angeles, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and foster-based rescue dedicated to saving stray, abandoned, and at-risk cats, with a special focus on those passed over due to superstition or stigma.

During the Black Death in the 14th century, people blamed black cats for the plague and killed them off—thinking they were evil omens. But without cats to control the rats (the real culprits), the plague spread even faster. Oops!

Cat Noir Rescue is proudly based in Downtown Los Angeles. While our home base is in the heart of the city, our dedicated network of volunteers helps us transport and care for cats across a wide region—including Los Angeles County, the San Fernando Valley, and Orange County.
